Business Plan Competition

The German-African University Partnership Platform runs two different Business Plan Competitions per year:

1. DEG Young Entrepreneur Award

This Business Plan Competition is open to all kind of business fields.

Students from all faculties of the University of Cape Coast and the University of Nairobi are welcome to turn in a business plan for our yearly Business Plan Competition.

The application process for the upcoming Business Plan Competition in 2016 will start around Mach/April 2016 and will be announced individually in each university.

Business Plans can be turned in until late spring / early summer (May, June). The exact dates will be announced here.

The business plans will be evaluated by expert teams consisting of experienced academics and business people. Out of all business plans, three winners will be selected and receive awards as followed:

  • Team: 6,000 Euro
  • Team: 5,000 Euro
  • Team: 4,000 Euro


All winning teams will be supervised and coached by the business centers of the University of Cape Coast and the University of Nairobi.

2. GIZ Green Business Plan Award

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) sponsors a business plan award in the field of green entrepreneurship (waste management, environmental management, renewable energies…).

A briefing workshop for selected students in Ghana will be offered in preparation of the business plan competition. Students who participated in the workshop are invited to turn in their business plans in the field of green entrepreneurship. The winning business plan receives an award of 7,000 Euro.
